Problems # 12

Equal-Interval

Equal interval scale, is characterized by a common unit of measurement and assigned a constant number equal to the number of equivalent units of the magnitude that has the item noted. Importantly, the zero point equal interval scales is arbitrary, and not at any time reflects the absence of the magnitude we are measuring.

Nominal

The nominal measurement scale can be considered the lowest level, and consists in assigning purely arbitrary numbers or symbols to each of the different categories in which we can divide the character we see, without being able to establish relationships between these categories, not to be that each element can belong to one and only one of these categories.

Rank-Order

If they can detect varying degrees of an attribute or property of an object, the ordinal measure is right, because then the property can be used to "order" of assigning numbers to objects under study so that, if the number assigned to the object A is greater than B, be inferred that A has an attribute greater than B.

Ratio Scale

The scale of reason is the optimal level of measurement, has a true zero as the origin, also called ratio scale. The existence of a zero, natural and absolute, means the possibility that the object property studied as lacking, and allows all arithmetic operations and the use of numbers represented actual amounts of the measured property (Healey, 2011).

Continuous

Continuous variables are characterized by the fact that for all values to always be found in intermediate value (weight, height, time taken to do a job, etc.). A variable is continuous, when you can take infinite intermediate values in two consecutive values. For example, height, weight, temperature (Healey, 2011).
