Statistics and ProbabilityAssume 20% of the population has blonde hair and 45% have brown hair. If someone is selected at random from this population, what is the prospect that he or she has either blonde hair or brown hair?

Formula for Probability

p(A or B) = p(A) + p(B)

= (0.20) + (0.45)

= 0.65

Assume 20% of the population is left-handed and 50% have blue eyes. If one person is selected at random from the population find the probability that the person chosen is left-handed and has blue eyes.

p(A and B) = p(A) x p(B)

= (0.20) (0.50)
