Abstract

The aim of this piece of study is to talk about strategic planning & management and leadership skills. The motive here is to produce an internal audit of the human, physical, and financial resources that are used in the organizational areas of Wm Morrison Supermarkets PLC, combined with the analysis of significance and nature of relevant stakeholders. The study also aims to provide the external audit of the mentioned company. Further, a position statement is also presented in order to highlight the opportunities and threats that the company is facing in the organizational areas. This position statement is based on both the external and internal audits and works in combination with the application of analytical frameworks advocated by Porter's five forces. Moreover, an operational plan is constructed which is designed particularly to capitalize on the opportunities of Morrison PLC or to improve the major weaknesses faced by the company. The success criteria for the initiatives taken by the company are also discussed in combination with the vision statement of Morrison PLC. In addition to this, the study also aims to provide a simplified Gantt chart which is designed to highlight how Morrison PLC is able to achieve the planned and desired outcomes on time, within the law, by incorporating feasible cost, and by focusing on quality. Further, the leadership approach advised to Morrison PLC, the deployed human resources by the company, the objectives that the company hopes to achieve, and the analysis of current leadership capabilities are also included in this piece of study.

Introduction

In today's fast changing and dynamic world of business, the role of planning in concert with a strategy cannot be underestimated. Businesses today are getting done in the context of a global market place where change is occurring at a faster pace than ever. Moreover, technology and the Internet have also made distance and time factors less relevant to the efficiency of business. There was also a time when strategic planning was done only by the biggest companies of the industry, and those who were the leaders of bringing change in numerous aspects of the organizations.
