Introduction

Apple computer introduced their first computer, the Apple I, in 1976. The company was started by two high school friends, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, when they collaborated to sell Steve Wozniak's invention. The company has survived the booms and the busts of the computer industry through new innovations in both software and hardware that has differentiated itself from its competitors. Apple's current strategy is to sell its "Mac" products to customers who aren't satisfied with traditional "IBM" compatible personal computers.

Information is an essential tool for managers in the retention, recruitment, utilization and evaluation of human resources in organizations. Since strategic planning supports the goals and objectives of the organization, information systems play an important role in planning and management of human resources and other valuable entities. These strategic planning systems will serve as an important personnel administration operational programs, including employee record keeping, budget control, compensation, benefits management, and government reporting. This paper will discuss how strategic planning management can help Apple Corporation improve its viability and longevity. (Senge, 2006)
