P1 State the chosen age range and area of development AND describe the development of the children or young people in this chosen age range

The development for the child of the age range between 3 to 7 years is very crucial as this is the most critical stage for Childs development. Teachers should focus on children's very carefully. In this age group HLTA training programmes relate to the Standards and enable Head teachers and teachers to be confident that HLTAs, working with qualified teachers as part of a professional team to guide this age group, are able to contribute to a wide range of teaching and learning activities and can assist and support the work of qualified teachers. The teaching will help HLTA candidates to illustrate they can work effectively with one-by-one students, little groups and whole classes.

P2 Identify factors which may affect this chosen area of development

In this age variety i.e. 3 to 7, the most important thing is to consider what roles there are for higher level teaching assistants (HLTAs) in their schools, Head teachers should consider whether these roles require skills, expertise and experience in relation to a particular age range, subject or other specialise? HLTA training and assessment programmers are not age or subject specific. In this age group further training may be necessary for a particular role depending on the previous skills, expertise and experience of the individual concerned. The measures need all HLTAs to illustrate that they can work competently with one-by-one pupils, little groups and entire classes under the direction and supervision of a trained educator, and that they can assist to a variety of teaching and learning undertakings in the localities where they have expertise. They need all HLTAs to demonstrate abilities in designing, monitoring, evaluation and class management.

While the Standards are generic, the teaching will supply opportunities for participants to construct on and evolve their prior specialist information and know-how, for demonstration in demeanour administration, pastoral care, early years, exceptional informative needs or individual subject areas. Assessment will require participants to request their teaching to their own position and will take location in the context of their locality of work.

Some HLTA candidates may need little added teaching to meet the required Standards. Their prior achievements experience of working in schools and previous training could provide a firm foundation for their HLTA work.
