For most of the people the term history refers to a series of events which are organized in a trend of cause and effect for some mind sets. The students of high school, who have a subject of history to study, often complain about the dullness of material that they are provided for the purpose of learning. This type of boredom comes on the surface because the students are not shown the details of the process of history, how it evolved.
All of the above, possibly, this means that they don't feel the excitement which is generated through the confusion and at some times, chaos that was created by history. The pattern of cause and effect which is given in most of the textbooks is a concern which has become visible to only after the occurrence of events. Those people who actually experience the actual happenings of history do have trouble in understanding and perceiving the pattern, in spite they experience a feeling of turbulence, disorder and groping.

When we talk about teaching the subject of history, most of the teachers are in agreements regarding the importance of gathering the students and bringing them into the lessons of history. Just by giving lectures on history and teaching the subject through textbooks does not make the engagement of students into the subject and that just makes the lessons of past relevant to the students of today. There is a way to get active learning for the history classrooms is through the introduction of themes, topics, eras and the events by using role play to students.
Drama has the elements of impulsiveness which can enhance the plans and activities of lessons. You can make a group in which you can assign the roles to different students and make them the actors for a day or you could slit the students into smaller groups and let them decide which roles they want to play at a single session.
