Teaching Assignment

Assessment requirements for the successful completion of Assessment and Learning

Task 1

The entire curriculum for the year is divided into 12 topics in 5 lessons each. When studying each theme, each student gains a certain amount of points depending on the activity in class and performs various tasks (classroom and home). After that all the collected points are added and reduced to a five-point ratings system. For each semester, each student will have six assessments, which display the final five-point score for the half year. Omitting the topic for a valid reason a student is granted the right to pass the topic later (Watts, Jonathan, 2003).

Moreover, the system of assessment will be totally based on points system and this will eliminate the factor of discrimination by the teacher among the students. The reason for this is that the students will be assigned points according to a system that has been developed and through this process the students will be also be motivated to get more points and to compete with each other (Ward, Todd, Eastman, Raymond, Ninness, Chris, 2009).

The results that come up with after the evaluation through using the developed method of assessment it can be said that if the student is able to pass the course, then it means that the student surely has the knowledge about what has been taught to him. This is because points are given for every action including participation and discussion in class. The results that are drawn can be used to prove the quality assurance in the organization (Waldrop, 2002).

But it can be said that in such an environment where the students are assigned points for the different tasks that they are performing, the quality cannot be totally assured as the students might use unethical ways to earn more points. This might include getting their assignments and homework's done by someone else and this in turn means that they are not gaining any learning and just scoring points.

But in this case as the points are being assigned carefully to the students on each and every task they are performing, the quality, reliability and validity of the results can somewhat be assured. This is because the students who aren't participating in discussions and other learning activities within the class will not be getting any point in this category. This means that their intake of learning is very low due to lack of participation in the different activities taking place in the class and focusing on activities like assignments and homework's which does not confirm that the student has gained some learning (Toppo, Greg, 2006).
