Introduction

The healthcare industry has gone through dramatic shifts during the past 20 years. The changes in healthcare industry had a profound effect on the healthcare workers, as well as, the patients. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors contributing towards the unpredictable changes, in the healthcare industry. It can be argued that the teamwork is considered as more effective rather individuals working separately. Lastly, the paper describes some team building trends related to healthcare teams, and the activities to promote bonding, growth and the effective training of the team members.

Do you think it would be important to have a diverse work team in our unit? Why or why not?

A team is defined as two or more than two people working together, for a same purpose, and having a shared vision. There are multiple advantages of working as a team in healthcare organizations. Also, individual members striving to provide healthcare services may achieve fruitful results in adopting team performance practices. However, the designing of teams greatly depends upon the nature of tasks they are about to perform. Similarly, the team members may possess different skills and sets of knowledge to perform particular tasks. Therefore, there must be a leader in a team that can guide the team in case of any difficulty.

However, all team members may remain interactive, in a healthcare organization, to ensure facilitating provision of effective health care services to the patients. In healthcare organizations, often, the term collaboration is used for the team. However in practical, collaboration affects the team work to a greater extent. If there is no collaboration, among healthcare professionals, there may not be any effective teamwork (Oandasan et al. 2006).
