Industrial

In this case study we are considering the example of Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd, Nissan has one of the largest car manufacturing plants in the United Kingdom.

Automated Systems

The company uses automated robots for the manufacturing of cars; this has been a blessing in disguise for the company. The introduction of automated systems has increased the numbers of car manufactured by the company every day, which has result in a big profit for the company. Along with that it has reduced the need of human work. Machines perform faster than a human being. A system engineer controls the machine which performs the manufacturing of cars (Sackman, 1970, pp. 67-89).

Inventory systems

The system is responsible for storing the records of the cars and the parts of cars that are manufactured by the company; it allows the company to keep a record of their products. The company wants to be fully aware of the information regarding its products.

Product tracking

Through the use of product tracking the company tracks the manufacturing of their products from the plant, once the product is ready then comes the part of the post sales or the policy of configuration management for the buyers of the products of the company.

Computerized payroll management system

The use of this technology enables the organization to keep accurate record of their employees. The data of all the employees working in an organization is stored in a very easy and accessible manner in the database system of the software. This system maintains and updates the information of all the employees, along with that it generates several outputs which includes the generation of worker's paycheck, and the report of workers to its employer. Every month the employer enters the data regarding the current pay period of the workers in the system, the systems first verifies the data and updates the record.

Supply chain management

A supply chain management system provides the company with the record of which product and in what quantity have been sent to which dealer. This enables a company to keep a perfect record of the sales and purchases made by them. Through the help of this system a company maintains the record of the sales and purchasing done by the company with other buyers and sellers.

In this case study we will use the example of Wal-Mart, which is the second largest retailer in the United Kingdom.

Record management system

Those days are gone, when workers use to stand in line, and wait for their turn punch in card for their attendance on the day. Then it was a very long process to manage the records of such large amount of workers. Now with the advancement of technology, this management of the records of the workers has become effortless for huge companies like Wal-Mart.
