Introduction and Thesis Statement

Television has been known as the most widespread media charms in many people's life spans. Evolution of media system over the period has brought significant alterations to both individuals and the modern world. Life of humans is constantly changing, so as the media because it should adjust to people's expectations. Television, one of the greatest inventions of time, has a huge responsibility of educating individuals especially the youth. The impact television depends on many factors: how much they watch TV, their age and personality, whether they watch alone or with their friends. To minimize the potential negative effects of television, it is important to understand what the impact of television can be on nowadays people. The role that television plays in socializing people is very important. Television can be educational and beneficial, but their negative effect, such as the amount, of aggressive and violent activity it displays, is causing a significant concern to researchers around the world (Amanda, 2007).

Events that led to the Advancement

Television started its journey from black and white screens but with no sound at all. The televisions, which we see today, have faced a lot of changes to transform into what we see today as plasma screens with surround sound. This perplexing survival was possible due to the creativity and puzzling work of bright minds, which completely revolutionized the world of television. Various people can be contributed for the creation on television, but historically Philo Farnsworth largely credited for the invention of television. Philo Farnsworth born in America in 1906 was an engineer interested in transmission of picture and had in mind the idea at age of fourteen. He is known as the first engineer to convert a television image in the year 1927.

The conversion of the television image executed through the usage of a dissector tube. Saying that history of television lies with only one inventor would be unfair, as a matter of fact, television invention history dates on a chronology. This phenomenon that we know today created by different people with several ideas and inventions together.

The history of mechanical television dates back to 1884 when a man with the name Paul Nipkow created a rotating disc technology that could air pictures across wire. This was the beginning of electro mechanical television era, but it was substituted because of many improved inventions. Charles Jenkins on June 14, 1923 declared to have devised a way to transfer silhouette images. Karl Braun in 1897 designed cathode ray tubes which are still used in television these days (Bullert, 1997).

Color television history could be traced back to early 1900s, and it got patented in 1904. Though, people started taking it seriously from 1925 after patent for electronic color television was submitted by Zworykin. Louis Parker in 1948 obtained a patent for adjustable television receiver and then in late 1940s cable television started.
