The Ethics Of Everyday, Ordinary Life

Introduction

Asking ethics is to ask the way to live. Ethics is an identical mode of human behavior in terms of quality of such behavior. Behavior is ethical if it is good and unethical if it is bad. Another thing is to ask when something is good and when it is not because there are different criteria for conduct in this field: what for some is good may not be for others. So ethics must be based on minimum principles, fundamental and objectives that we all agree. Principles associated with large actual values, and they are for all mankind. For example, universal Declaration of Human Rights contains objective principles, signed by almost all countries (Blackburn, pp. 33-35).

Today, there is much talk about ethics. There are different names for ethics related to different fields, like, bioethics, ethics of sport, political ethics, business ethics, etc. The crucial thing is that everyone lives every day to work ethically and in everything they do. This is the predominant action of each criterion of goodness and justice and is those criteria and values prevail. Perform well in important moments of life, united as to appear to some catastrophic events reported in the media repeatedly; it is probably easier to behave like normal and ordinary in every moment. It is difficult to be generous and supportive to extraordinary and shocking events of life, but not so easy to stay faithful, just, gentle, kind and supportive during all the days of our lives, among the people closest to us, if not weird events occur (Blackburn, pp. 33-35).

We address this issue in the everyday ethics; ethics that has to do with ordinary life, but that is what brings us and prepare to live life in a meaningful way. It is an ethic that makes a whole way of life a way of being that are common in practice the person who, thanks to which, that person will always act in a fair and straight is as natural to him. When the person living a lifestyle well, separated from his guideline because it acts in a manner, not in accordance with these principles and values that are fundamental to her, feels bad about herself. That feeling of discomfort is equivalent to what we call the voice of conscience, which is how the internalization of ethics (Blackburn, pp. 33-35).

Thesis Statement

The “ordinary” is the foundation to and practice for the “extraordinary,” the mundane is an outward manifestation of the state and nature of one's metaphysical perspectives, and, ultimately, the mundane and ordinary form the basis for and enable the progression of civil society.
