Hiring of Convicted Felons

Introduction

Despite the best efforts, even the most educated and experienced individuals may have some difficulty locating jobs in the current job market. Such kind of scenarios is mostly experienced by the convicted felons who after many years come out of the prison for the first time. Skills that can be easily carried over into most blue collar jobs are possessed by the felons that come to the work release (Uggen & Et.al, 2006). To develop and reinforce the felon's skills set, training of skills are outsourced or provided by halfway houses. There may be some limitations to jobs that hire felons, despite of the solid skills set and strong motivation on the part of the felon.

Crime is one of the largest restrictions tied to felons, they may be restricted from using computers in an unsupervised manner, if they were convicted of computer crimes, same as, some might be restricted from handling financial information, if they convicted of various financial crimes or fraud. The fact that the individual has a criminal history is one of the largest barricades to finding jobs that hire convicted felons (Pager & Quillian, 2005). Associated with hiring a felon, employers are losing all the potential benefits and do have the right to refuse to hire convicted felon. By adopting several different methods, this research subject can be approached in many different ways, three avenues of approach: mixed, qualitative and quantitative method has been offered by the researcher for the purpose of this specific study. Into the complex relationship between hiring and convicted felons, each building has been built upon the other in order to gain the best insight possible or what can be called hiring of convicted felons.

Quantitative

There lines of research have been extended and united in two ways in this avenue of approach, first, how identify shifts over the life course can be explained across civic, familial and socioeconomic domains, through s symbolic interactionist theory of role transition and second, the previous researchers did not studies the reintegrative domain that is important and represents the civic integration in addition to family and work. The purpose of this study is to experiment the life-course model of desistance from crime and role transition with a small sample of convicted felons, with the help of intensive interviews illustrative evidence taken were used, however, and a rigorous empirical test of this theory has not been attempted in this section. Linking desistance and adult role transition, based on our conceptual model and interview data we suggest that conforming citizen or self-concept as an unexpected are the primary means that link both of the factors (Varghese & Et.al, 2010). The direction of the study is specified by the following research question,

Research Question: Can family, work, citizen role and civic reintegration can be centrally located for successful reintegration?

Hypothesis 1: The transition to adulthood with reverence to normal life-course markers, are felons likely to be 'off-time' or ...
