Introduction

The income gap between man and women has been found since centuries. In today's modern era, despite of the continual development and continual progresses in the industries and despite of the increasing concerns of gender equality, the wages and pays are still unequal and there is the sustainability of wages gap. The wage gap is the difference between the men's and women's usual earnings that they earn at a particular period of time.

The wage gap issue is not only in the developing countries; however, this issue also exists in the developed countries. The United States of America is one of the developed countries where there is serious issue of wages gap. The wages gap is still not closed in United States despite of various steps taken by the employers. In today's era, the women are equally educated as that of the men but still there is concentration of high level income among the men. The high level jobs are given to men and they are high level pays. There is still the discrimination in genders when the employers have to give jobs to candidates. The women are mostly not given the high level jobs because there is the glass ceiling in organizations. The women are mostly found in the areas of teaching, healthcare services and in other occupations related to service sectors.

The recent research studies have shown that the men earn seventeen percent more than the women when the men and women are of the same age and educational level. . There are various reasons of wages gap between men and women. In recent years, the wage gap has been decreased but still the decreasing pace is slow. The decreased percentage is at the lower rate. The changing nature of households and their roles have been found the factors that have contributed, though at the lowest rate, in the decrease in wages gap. The women are increasing getting education and they are contributing their services as the workforce in the industries. Their increased contribution and increasing high wages demand has slightly decreased the wages gap but the gap still prevails.

Discussion

Many research studies have been conducted and many articles have been written based on the surveys that are conducted to understand the economic trends in the country. According to Sarah J. and Audrey P. (2012), there are many facts that show the existence of wages gap between men and women. Some of these includes that a full time women workforce earns only seventy seven percent than that of the man in a particular time period of one year. The gap of wages between men and women has not only affected the individuals, however, this gap and the women's lower level of income has affected the whole families.
