Theatre: Dramatize its Social Historical Moment

Introduction

The theatre is visited by fewer people - that's a fact. The reason lays in the fact that television and the cinema, the theatre increasingly replace in his role as "facilitator" of experiences and situations. By the enormous technical progress in recent years, the film succeeds and the television, almost everything put, every opinion, every feeling and every impression. But above all, it is possible the new media more and more, to create the illusion of authenticity.  A whole new cultural context committed itself to provide the most basic and simplest of questions as to the meaning and function of the theatre at the turn of the millennium again. It is to ask whether and why the theatre in a world dominated by television and cinema time to fascinate people still can, and it applies to the characteristics of the theatre asking that "justify" it so to speak (Orth, 2004, pp. 142-50).

Such contact is only possible if both are at the same time in the same room. The simultaneity of the transmitting and receiving process is inextricably linked to the theatre. The cinema and the television time and space separate from the receiver to the sender. The difference between theatre and film can be compared to the difference between a "live" concert ...
