Background

United States is witnessing its worst recession since the Great Depression of 1930. In the 30's, the Great Depression drowned with a long decade of unemployment, poverty, low profitability, deflation and a large number of lost opportunities for economic progress (Philip & Karakitsos, 2010). This current recession is also presenting serious percussions for the already sluggish U.S. economy. Many analysts are of the view that this may continue for another year or so.
