Introduction

The Army truck's role has been witnessed to have progressed significantly since its origin as being the means of simple transport. There are various roles that trucks are employed in to, which include logistics vehicle, armament carrier, Command and Control (C2) vehicle, ambulances as well as platform for variety of other army systems. In the past decade, the vision of the army has been able to evolve from the motorized transport which was unprotected to a protected system which would be possess the capability to be able to operate in a full spectrum, non-linear battle field. However, it has led to a substantial increase in the costs of the truck as the increasingly threats have risen the need of the trucks to be armored. These trucks are made in such a way that they are added with additional power and space to carry the armor as well as they are fitted with Control, Command, Computers and Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) equipment.

Initially, the light tactical Vehicle was armored to increase the performance and protection of HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle). However, the troops of the United States needed something much stronger than that. Thus, the JLTV was developed to fill out this gar. JLTV is the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle. The cost managed to increase significantly but still not as much as the MRAP Family of Vehicles (FoV). Thus, further investments are still being carried out to ensure national security. The strategic objectives of the TWV include Fleet size and Mix, Fleet Operations as well as protection. However, currently only the fleet objectives and strategies would be discussed in the paper.

Fleet Objections

The strategic objectives of the fleet operations include the forces that are equipped with the skills of the TWV to cater to the requirements of all the mission from general purpose trucks to protected and armor capable platforms with specific functional capabilities. In addition to that the forces are specially trained to make sure that their vehicles are safe and that their employments are always successful.

The affordability of the strategy would depend on the budget provided. Operation readiness and reliability are improved when all TWV fleets are modernized.
