Ultrasound Transducer

Introduction

Ultrasonic transducers are used in many industries for non-destructive testing (NDT). They are used among others for the precise positioning of objects and reliable evaluation of errors. The ultrasonic transducer is medical equipment; it is an ultrasound machine for the human body internally generated images. It is used for conducting ultrasound imaging studies, and technical personnel in the areas of interest applicable to the angle of the sensor, regular exercise and change in order to obtain complete picture. Sensors to send and receive sound waves, ultrasound machines use sensors to collect data to create an image (Thopmson, 1990).

Ultrasound transducer, an inevitable front of all ultrasound systems are used for electromechanical energy conversion. They transform the electrical oscillations into mechanical waves or vice versa, thus forming the interface between signal processing and measurement section. Due to the high efficiency often piezoelectric ceramics, for example from lead zirconate titanate as a key component of the ultrasonic transducer can be selected. In addition, the electro-acoustic transfer behavior is due to their mechanical construction, the materials selected, and the compound used techniques (gluing, soldering) maügeblich affected. Due to the complex coupling and feedback between electrical and mechanical parameters, an analytical description and optimization of the transducer is extremely complicated. On the other hand, represents the application-specific optimization of the transducer, the greatest potential in terms of functionality and cost of an ultrasonic sensor system, or sometimes only allow its implementation (Ledbetter, 1999).

The quality of a probe is characterized mainly by the non-visible properties such as the nominal frequency, bandwidth, and crystal diameter. The stability of these parameters over a long period of time is an indication of the reliability of the ultrasonic transducer. In order to obtain multiple probes of the same type from the same reflector identical echo signals, the ...
