Introduction

United States Marine Corps (USMC) has offered vast services in several foreign and domestic engagements, which prominently includes their moderate role in Civil War (1861-1865). The major task of this role was to perform a blockade duty. During the war when the number of states seceding from the Union was increasingly rapidly, Corps officers almost half of them also joined the Confederacy and form the Confederate States Marine Corps. This Confederacy force played a vital role in the later part of the war. The recruits' battalion performed poorly in the First Battle of Bull Run (First Manassas) and retreated with rest of the union forces.

The branch of American Army, United States Marine Corps (USMC), is a special force given the responsibility of providing power expulsion from the sea, and to assist the quick mobility of U.S. Navy aggregated with armed task forces. USMC falls in the seven services creed of the US Forces. The administrative responsibilities of USMC lie in the hand of Naval Department, but its operation are of separate nature, whose decisions are taken by them as a separate branch of military. It works often in collaboration with U.S. naval forces for the sake of logistics, training and transportation

The Corps has been in over 28 separate interventions in the 30 years including the Civil War to the end of 19th Century. It was then also asked to settle the political and labor unrest, under the command of Commander James Zeilin, which took root in the United State.
