Introduction

Taser is an electroshock weapon which is sued for debilitating a person by administering electric shocks to him. Taser is a conductive energy device which fires projectiles that give electric shocks to a person through thin electric wires. Tasers works and administer electric shocks and affects the neuromuscular incapacitation. A person who is struck be a Taser experiences stimulation in his nerves due to which the involuntary muscles also contracts. Tasers are usually used by law enforcement teams and police and are preferred over non-Taser guns.

Currently there are two models M26 and X26 which are being used by the police. They both come with several accessories that include a laser sight and mounted digital camera. Recently a new Taser is developed which is capable of firing three times without loading it again and again. (Al-Jarabah, 2008)

Tasers were developed as non lethal weapons that are widely used by police all over the world. Police use this weapon to protect themselves and the citizens from dangerous and criminal activities. According to a recent survey Tasers have saved lives of around 75000 people in United States. Although Tasers have saved many lives and is quite helpful in reducing crimes, there have been several controversies that show the use of Tasers can injure or harm and cause death.

Taser was developed by a NASA researcher in 1969.by 1974 the complete device was prepared and was widely distributed do that it can be used for safety purposes. Tasers were created so that violence could be eliminated from the society and peace could be maintained. Since then the popularity and the use of Tasers have increased. Almost every police officer in Canada and in United States has a Taser to maintain safety.

Function of Taser

The Taser fires to small electrodes that are connected to the main unit as they are propelled by a small nitrogen charge.
