Introduction

The field of entertainment is vast and extensive. Everyday this industry shows new, creative and innovative notions. One of the latest innovative ideas in this field is of reality shows. Reality shows are something that grasp attention of viewers. Viewers find the concept of reality shows very intriguing and fascinating. It is not possible that any phenomenon that is on air not suffers from controversies or involves any dubious things. Similarly, there are several controversies revolve around the concept of reality shows. Some of the most popular television shows in today's society are The Biggest Looser, Jersey Shore, and Big Brother, so you think you can dance, America's next top model and American idol. These programs and many others are classified as reality television. Reality television's main purpose is to attempt to portray ordinary people in unscripted situations. Many aspects of these reality shows create controversies. The aim of this paper is to explore all the different facets of these shows.

The aim of this research is to reveal all the notions that suggest that reality TV shows are exploiting morals and values of our society.

Arguments in favor of thesis statement

There are different reasons that prove the idea that reality shows that have become an indispensible part of today's entertainment world are destroying morals and values of our society. Following are the different reasons that support this idea:

Invasion of privacy

The first and foremost reason that makes these reality shows a source of destroying morals and values of our society is invasion of privacy. For instance, in big brother and the bachelor the participants have to live for a given span of time with strangers and with those with whom they have little acquaintances. These shows portray whole life of participants. Such reality shows portrays what and how participants do throughout the day. In reality shows it is impossible for a participant to maintain his or her privacy.

Cheap and sensational television

There are many dating shows that go on air on television. These shows include the bachelor, Joe millionaire and Temptation Island. These shows present the role of young people in situations that deal with sexuality. These shows can have negative influence on teenagers. In order to create sensuality in the show and to increase TRP rates they do not hesitate to include cheap material. These cheap materials often involve acts and events that are immoral.

Moreover, such television shows also portray many interpersonal relationship of different sorts. These relationships range from love affair to cut throat rivalry. Another aspect that these shows involve is of language. Sometimes the language that the participants use in these shows is often not appropriate.

Absence of authentic and real life situation
