Teachers and students require a place for initiation to think and understand the concept of learning; the first step can be identified as a good beginning. The question arises how to gain self knowledge, the inventories available in the form of libraries and other electronic media can be utilized. A learning preference is not judged by the inventory used by the student for learning, it is not judged on the basis of alphabetic symbols, kind of inventory or even descriptors paragraphs along with labels. The method of learning is more of a process and preference. Most of the students recognize their learning preference through the inventory as they utilize it according to their capabilities which can help them in improving and understanding.

The VARK test is designed to establish an initial understanding among the teacher and the student about learning. In the staff development thinking, it serves as a catalyst for creating strategies that are required for teaching various groups of learners and it can benefit in leading to an appropriate variety of teaching and learning.

In a test conducted, the following outcome was derived from the VARK Questionnaire Results:

Visual: 12

Aural: 10

Read/Write: 10

Kinaesthetic: 9

The case describes the student as a multimodal learner, it consist of the learning preference consisting of multimodal, visual, aural, read-write and kinaesthetic.

Visual

It has been observed that students that prefer representation of information in terms of spider diagrams, maps, charts, flow charts, graphs, diagrams labelled and the symbols such as circles, hierarchies, arrows and any other device that can be utilized by the instructor for representing the idea without using words. There are certain segregation such as videos, movies and PowerPoint presentations.

Aural/Auditory

The mode perceptually describes students method of learning is via what is heard or spoken. These kinds of students learn better, during lectures, tapes, group discussion, mobile phone, web chats, tutorials, speaking and talking things through. Most of these students are in a habit of talking loud or talking to themselves.

Read/Write

In this kind of learning preference the student adapt easily to the information that is displayed as words. There is emphasis on the input and output that is evidently text based, writing and reading which is available in all forms of educational inventory for instance quotation, books, PowerPoint, dictionaries, the internet, etc.
