History

The biggest supplier of products and services for IP telephony in the region, adding value and reduced transcends the operating costs of the activities of our clients. In 2000, the company acquired One Point Communications and subsequently renamed it as Verizon Avenue. Verizon and Price Communications combined the business operations of Price Communications and a portion of Verizon Wireless in 2002. The company acquired Alltel's controlling partnership interest in 2003, a wireless business. In the same year, Verizon Wireless announced the introduction of transatlantic text messaging, enabling the transfer of text messages between the Verizon Wireless CDMA network and Vodafone's GSM networks. The company acquired 50 wireless licenses and related network assets from North coast Communications in mid 2003. In 2004, the company tied up with Avaya to offer communications solutions to small and medium sized business (SMEs).

In 2006, the company completed the spin-off of Idearc (formerly Verizon Information Services). In the same year, Verizon Communications sold Verizon Canada Holdings to a subsidiary of America Movil. Verizon entered into a programming-distribution agreement with Comcast for Comcast Sports Net-Philadelphia and Comcast Sports Net-Philadelphia HD in 2006 (Fraedrich & Ferrell 2006).
