Virginia Holocaust Museum

Introduction

Some places are worth a million visits, with each visit exposing us to a whole new dimension about the place. They are so pleasing and inspiring that we end up going there off and on, to marvel at their exclusive presentation of distinct features. A visit to Virginia's Holocaust Museum is no less than a priceless journey into history and back. I have visited many museums in the past, but none could present the distinct historical monuments and antiques in such an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation as the Holocaust Museum.

It was a visit last summer, when I destined to see the museum after I heard many good reviews about it from my friends. My first impression of the museum was one of ultimate inspiration and appreciation of the objects that are placed. It seemed as though I am re-visiting the holocaust events myself. The Virginia Holocaust Museum strives to provide guests with an interactive experience where guests can walk through a ghetto board the “St. Louis” ship and take a ride in a cattle car. This was a unique experience that made me think of all the soldiers and people who went through the tragic Holocaust during the Second World War. The guests were also made crawl through a replica of a hiding place where many people seek refuge during wartimes for nine whole months. Being a visitor to the museum for several times, I would suggest that this type of museums should be valuable for heritage preservation and are worth-preserving because they depict the actual history and represent the tragedies of the war times (Michael, 187).
