Active volcanoes pose many dangers to life and property. Some risks, like the huge lava flows and explosive blasts associated with volcanic eruptions spectacular headline-grabbers, recognized by all. Others, like glowing avalanches and ash falls, are much less bright and less well-known to the public, but they can be just as deadly.
