Issue

The presidency of Richard M. Nixon (1968-1974) as head of government of the United States were marked by the Watergate scandal, which would bring him a negative reputation to the president and would, ultimately, his resignation (August 9, 1974) to an imminent dismissal. This issue uncovered on June 17, 1972, to stop the police five men equipped with electronic devices (for listening to private conversations) in the Democratic presidential office in the Watergate Hotel in Washington. These five individuals were plumber's government that is responsible for "cleaning" the murky issues that might have it, and its creation was approved by Nixon himself and his private cabinet of collaborators.

Nixon Resignation

Nixon resigned Aug. 9, 1974, immediately after the publication of a tape recorded conversations day after the rupture between Nixon and his staff about a plan to block the investigation (Anonymous, 2001). The tape was and is still called Nixon 'smoking gun'.
