A Well Educated Person

Every person has a different view about well educated people. Majority of people thinks that a well educated person is the one who has got top-class schooling and good grades throughout their education period. It is a very common concept that prevails in our society. Everyone we see is trying to achieve the highest standards in terms of ranking and grades of their education so that society will consider them well educated. For me, the reality is totally different from that of the concept of higher grades and quality schooling (Kohn, 2003).

I totally agree with the ideas presented by Alfie Kohn in his literary piece of work “What does it mean to be Well-educated?” . Kohn believes that the current standards and reforms of schooling and the education system focus on creating a brand name of schools and institutions. This system does not make students capable of doing something on their own. It also does not play a vital role in enhancing the thinking process of the students of that school. Before talking about the modifications in the reforms and presenting a new standard of education, we must invest our time to think and realize the requirements of our kids in terms of education and literacy. The phenomenon of well-educated person has varying views in the eyes of people. If someone will ask me about the definition of well-educated person, I might say that a well-educated person is the one who can sensibly use his or her brain, heart and hands while dealing with the daily challenges of life (Kohn, 2003).
