CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION

This research study is an attempt to study the effects that environmental factors that have an impact on the British Petroleum. This dissertation comprises of five chapters in all, namely introduction, literature review, research methodology, discussion and analysis and conclusion. This topic has been chosen in order to assess the factors that may have an impact on the practices of the company. There are a number of social and environmental factors that are carried out by the company itself. This dissertation will provide an introduction to the research; formulate the research questions that will be answered in through this research study, it also incorporates the relevant literature that is available on the environmental factors and British Petroleum.

CHAPTER 02: LITERATURE REVIEW

Introduction

This chapter of the dissertation provides the relevant literature that is available on the environmental practices of British Petroleum and he impact that have had on the environment. The literature has been extracted from the electronic libraries, journals, books and other electronic mediums.

British Petroleum: Company Overview

Depending upon the market capitalization and confirmed reserves among the oil companies, British Petroleum is the World's leading oil company. Some of the chief businesses of British Petroleum are Refining and Marketing, Exploration and Production, and Chemicals. Activities in Exploration and Production consists of exploration of oil and natural gas and expansion in field and production, simultaneously with the transportation of pipeline, the processing of natural gas and the processing of gas and also the processing of productive marketing techniques (Klinenberg, 2002, p. 35). The Refining and Marketing consists of trading activities and supply of oil and also it consists of supplying activities. The activities of Chemicals consist of manufacturing and marketing of petrochemicals. In addition to this, British Petroleum also consists of another business that is solar energy business which is among world's biggest companies that manufactures photovoltaic systems and photovoltaic modules. British Petroleum, Shell and 'Multinationals like this had to face go through much difficulty in handling its operations in the diversified cultural, legal and political systems (Bolson & Cook, 2008, p. 388).'
