Introduction

Mini-skirts, fake eyelashes, the pillbox hat, and tight jeans were fashion highlights in the 1960's. There is no doubt 60's fashion changed the face and the future of rock and pop culture forever. Today, hip-hugger pants and miniskirts are still flying out of the departments stores like hot bread (The fashion look of the 60s, 1985). The generation enjoying these trends today is too young to remember the real thing, but for veteran hippies, it proves that the magic they remembered was real (60s fashion revival, 1985).

In the early sixties, pleated skirts set on a hip yoke Basque were damaged with short sleeved over blouses which were slashing not different the case peaks of today. Straight skirts had front and back inverted pleats called boot pleats and were perfect for managing the rotate promenade craze as they permitted the knee to proceed freely. Straight jumper dresses in lamb's wool or the synthetic acrylic kind called Orlon were damaged belted with waists nipped in became fashionable (Break out your bell-bottoms: From Madonna to Main Street, groovy, 60s fashions are back—with, 1991).

Pencil skirts were still damaged with sweaters or even back to front cardigans that had been pushed super flat. Before the days of falls driers numerous women lay their cleaned rung out knitwear in paper tissue and then dark paper. They put it to dry under a carpet for two days. When it was taken from the tissue, the footsteps that had bashed over the intertwined provided it a flat dry cleansed as new appearance (The fashion look of the 60s, 1985). Laundering of delicates could still be a difficult, but everything altered when mass made synthetic garments arrived.

For those fashion lovers do not be surprised if you see hot pants, cat suits with over sizes flower petals, bright bold colors, and flowers ties for men in the runway around the world (Wilson, 1991, 40). Those are the trends major designers are filling the stores with (70 Years of Esquire Style, 2003). Although today's designers are inspired by many movements, celebrities, and trends, the 60's fashion highlights are definitely as strong today as they were back then. As a result, 60's trends are here to stay and get their groove on.

Discussion

The cold weather is getting closer, coffee shops start to fill up, and people need new clothes to wear, which means; miniskirt-check, Baby doll dress-check, Bubble skirt-check and Platform shoes-check. But is cold outside? Ok, who cares is all in the name of fashion. A Pucci printed for the fun. A Diane von Furstenberg wraps dress to go out in. It's hard to believe we're in the 21st century when the fashion runways are jammed with ideas from the 1960s (McGuigan, 2006 61-63).The 60's were a decade that broke all traditions, women were open to try new things, take risk, be sexy, ...
