The Yanomamo tribe is native of the Brazilian-Venezuelan border. They are the last people of their kind (the tropical forest Indians called foot people) left on the Amazon Basin and the last such people in the world. There are about 20,000 Yanomamo living on some two hundred to two hundred-fifty separate, fiercely independent villages. These villages are very open and generally located on interfluvian plains of the Mayor Rivers.
