Introduction

The younger generation has a crucial role to play in our society, they the ones to be the decision makers in and adopting local as well as national policies at political, socio-economical, legal and educational level. Thus, the main concerns remain here to educate and empower them as to make them socially responsible and contribute towards development of new political culture and civil setting. Youth is clay that can be precast in either way one wants, it depends the direction they are steered to. This is the prime reason that youth can lead to construction or destruction, it can be exploited or utilized to eradicate poverty, unemployment, inequality, racism and lead the nation towards progression (Edelman, Gill and Comerford, 2004).

Younger generation is born with some competencies, strengths and assets that need to be developed so as to lead the society towards victory.

Youth Development

Youth development broadly refers to platforms and services concerning mentoring, social recreation, peer counseling, mentoring arts, community service, volunteerism, life skill programs, academic amelioration, leadership development. These elements fit within the shell of youth evolution. Youth development programs are premeditated to enable youth leadership in its very core. It emphasizes on areas, components, development principles and ideologies that distinguishes and supports youth empowerment.

These methodologies are aimed towards healthy development of kids to become productive citizens while contributing positively towards the community. It sets phases that children go to obtains traits, attitudes, skills, values, morals, competencies and social skills that they need to become productive adults. These characters enable them to face the challenges and opportunities awaiting them ahead. Yet, their ability to do so depend on the strategies aimed at youth development and support and assistance they receive from the people and institution around them. Furthermore, focus here remains that young populaces are best able to move through their developmental stages if they are nurtured well through all segments and clusters of community; by individuals, family, peers, schools, faith organizations, youth agencies and so on (Eccles and Gootman, 2003). The motive behind youth development and facilitation is not to give them problem free environment, but to prepare them for the complex challenges and responsibilities sown ahead.

Discussion

Youth development is a continuous process through which young generation is inclined towards meeting their requirements to develop competencies. The young lad is enjoys central role in his/her development yet youth that grew up with caring social frameworks including family, neighborhood, schools, informal groups tend to have positive outcomes because of their engaging activities, opportunities to make decisions and contributions. Hence, to rely on the youth development strategies, this means amalgamation of methods and activities in these programs (Edelman, Gill and Comerford, 2004).
