Zappos Analysis

Introduction

The main purpose of this paper is to take an organization “Zappos.com”, and discuss that Zappos has an excellent company culture that makes their business successful. Based on this quality of Zappos, this paper also develops another company “GrubHub”, which is a mob company.

Company's Overview

Zappos.com is a privately held online retailer of apparel, footwear, handbags, watches, sunglasses and accessories. Its product categories also include eyewear, house wares, jewelry, sporting goods, watches and gifts (Kruse 2004). Zappos.com currently stocks more than three million shoes, handbags, clothing items and accessories from over 1,136 brands. The company primarily operates in the US, where it is headquartered in Henderson, Nevada, and employs about 1,300 people.

Zappos.com is considered to be an online retailer that deals mainly in shoes. Along with the shoes, they also deal in handbags, clothing, watches, eyewear and other accessories. Zappos.com is Henderson based company having its ware house in Shepherdsville, KY. Along with this headquarter or warehouse, there are also some brick-and-mortar outlet stores of Zappos.com.

Zappos.com focuses more on the quality customer service and through this it has become number one seller of online shoes. It has a stock of almost three million pairs of shoes, apparel and accessories and handbags. 1000 brands of Zappos.com are so specialized that they cannot be found in everyday shopping malls. Zappos.com satisfies the needs of frustrated and shop-worn customers by providing them the stylish and reasonably priced footwear nationwide. Zappos.com got the popularity among the customers because of its unique and new styles which no other shoe retailer was providing. As, people do not get the actual picture of the product on the Internet, therefore, Zappos provided its customers the facility of no-fuss money-back guarantee. Through this service, the revenues of Zappos.com increased to $8.6 million for 2001. According to Footwear News (February 26, 2001), the main reason behind the success of Zappos.com is their best variety of products and quality services.

Company Development (Grub Hub), modeling the learning's from Zappos.com

The culture of Zappos.com is excellent, and this is the main reason that Zappos.com is a successful company. Being impressed of Zappos.com culture, I have opened a new company GrubHub which provides room service at your door step. The main area of operations of Grub Hub is in Southern California's Santa Clarita Valley. Grub Hub provides its customers the facility of virtually order the food from a menu of specialized cooks. Focusing on the customer, Grub Hub provides its customers the facility that they can order food from their home via the Internet. For example, a customer at 4:00 p.m. sitting in his office can order food for 5:30 at his home. Now, when he will reach home, exactly at 5:30 he will receive the delivery of food (Hendrix 2000-2001).
