The play represents four interconnected plots. In the first plot, Theseus the Duke of Athens and Hippolyta the Queen of Amazons were going to be connected in wedlock, and for that purpose, great celebrations were planned in the woodland forest. On the second plot, Egeus took her disobedient daughter named Hermia to the Duke as Egeus wanted her to marry a man of his choice who was Demetrius but Hermia did not want to marry him because she was in love with Lysander. Duke commands her to marry Demetrius or otherwise she has to face the penalties in terms of death or entering in a convent according to the Athenian Law. Both the Cupids Hermia and Lysander decided to elope and confide at their friend Helena who was secretly in love with Demetrius. The juice of the plant has magic as when it squeezes on the eye when asleep, makes them fall in love with the first living thing seen upon awakening. King puts the juice on Queen in order to punish her because he knew that when she would wake up she would first interact with the animal as they were in the forest.

“And here I take this charm from off her sight, I will make her give up her page to me” (said by Oberon)

The tradesmen were rehearsing the play in the forest and Puck, the Kings servant magically transforms Bottom's head in to the donkey's head. The other members of the group got terrified and flee from the forest. When Titania got up, the first creature she saw was Bottom and therefore, ...
