Introduction

The culture of Today is almost completely filled up with different types of music such as Rock, classical rock, pop, jazz, country, alternative, rap, and R&B etc. thus, among many controversial styles of music in society, rap is among one of the most easily identified. The main reason of criticizing this style is a belief that it sends offensive messages to the youth of today by promoting some mischievous and immoral activity. For that reason, I'll take a look over this music genre to see its actual controversies. Rap is a vocal style of music in which the artists speaks many verses lyrically (Baxter, 1985). This music usually flows on the beat of instruments like several other types of music. The musical beat that comes out from the instruments with combinations of several types of music.

Controversies about Rap Music

As it is a very common belief about rap music, that it is influencing a bad impact on youth and other people who listen to it. In this manner, do not try to get me wrong because some rappers undoubtedly send uplifting and positive messages. For example, the rap of Nappy Root known as “Good Day” proclaims the music in an optimistic tune like “We are gonna have a good day.” Here, is also song Chamillionaire saying “I wanna show my haters love” which is conveying an unequivocal message. Therefore, a lot of common themes integrated with rap musical style are about drugs, sex, violence, alcohol and other unpleasant things. It must be free from the use of excessive profane words to maintain the morality.

Another rap song of Jamie Foxx's “Blame it” is comprised of so many types of alcohol throughout the several lyrics of the song and the reason of it as it is focusing on girls that they look more beautiful than others while having alcohol in their cups. Another two popular songs are also making focus on alcohol as it is so exciting and fascinating thing. According to this song, it looks like as the drinking is just a fun, and these things can promote taking alcoholic drinks excessively which is also beyond the levels of morality or ethics and it also affects the health of a person.

In rap songs, the themes of drugs are also mentioned excessively like “Weed Song” of Bone Thugs as it emphasizes heavily on smoking and considers it as a favorable thing to get oneself high. Another song of Lil Wayne is very well known as “Kush” which gives stimulation to smoking weed. By these themes in a song, it seems like that by smoking weed u feel like getting high and this thing makes u cooler as you have a good hobby of smoking weed and other drugs.
