A Trip to Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History
I had an opportunity of visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History in the summer break with my family. This was my first visit to any historical museum. The famous museum presents a majestic view and it is built in a very unique way that attracts the visitors. As soon as we entered the museum, it was evident that all objects in the museum were displayed in a systematic manner. This museum has its own importance as it is the largest museum in US that showcases the natural and historical objects. It includes 35 million specimens in its collection which are part of history covering previous 4.5 billion years (Natural History Museum, 2013).
When people visit museums, they have an objective to learn and explore behind the visit. The learning can be in many forms. It can be for culture, architecture or military. My purpose of this trip was to learn about the natural history. It also increased my chances of making good friends at the trip. I learnt many things about the natural history in this museum. The ground floor exhibits the fossils. I studied these fossils in detail and found it very interesting. I explored the objects in Dinosaur Hall which is newly constructed part of the museum. 20 skeletons of dinosaurs are displayed in the hall which is the most extensive collection of dinosaurs' fossils in the world. I learnt that 80% of the fossils from which these skeletons are made are real. This excited me a lot as I witnessed the objects that were part of world a long time before.
