There is a huge difference between aboriginal Australian and other population of Australia, almost 10 years can be considered less for life expectancy of indigenous Australian. Moreover, mortality rate for them is also high not for any specific age group, but it can be found in all groups of people. The main cause for damaging themselves is basically their intentional damage and ultimate reason for their death. We cannot find the accurate facts and figures on such mental disorder occurrence and incidents of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians (Kowal, et.al, 2007. In that way we can understand the great inequality is present in the mental health of such Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australian's.

There are numerous of reasons are there through which we can recognize the roots of such issues which have been facing by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. These issues are like shortage of infrastructures and also the lack of establishment of communities of welfare and health. Extremely high numbers of mortality and morbidity, extraordinary poverty and some of the other adverse factors have been hindering the condition of mental health services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
