Abortion has been defined as a medical process employed or use for the purpose of ending a pregnancy in order to avoid birth of a baby. Employment security for women will not only deter abortion but also will contribute to the productivity of the population on the whole.

Incidence of abortion is also a result of low median incomes of the family. The low income on the part of male members also spurs the abortion rate. The families that have a higher disposable income tend to look at child as a blessing rather than a liability because the cost of caring for a child constitutes a smaller share of the typical family's income.

At times the family or single mothers decide to have abortion at later stages of pregnancy which raises issue of right of life of the child. Moreover, high rate of abortion adds negatively to the productivity of local workforce in the long-term. For healthy economy a young and dynamic workforce is required. New workers are required to replace the old workers and the birth rate must be consistent with the death rates. In the USA birth rates among the local population is on a lower side which makes dependence on immigrant workforce imperative. The limit for abortion for social reasons must be reduced from 24 to 18 weeks gestation. The limit for abortion for medical reasons, on the contrary should be increased. There must be a strict regulation on the reason of having an abortion, whether it is an abortion due to social reasons and abortion for medical reasons. An abortion for medical reasons is something else if the child coming in the world is disable or abnormal than it is the right of the parents to have an abortion.
