Plant Responses to: The role of abscisic acid as a stress hormone

Abstract

Sustainability survival of plants in adverse environmental conditions has become an issue of great importance to the scientists in the world of agriculture. Many researches on the genetic of plant discovered that abscisic acid found in the plant could be of great help in reducing the affects of these conditions. This hormone or acid helps in fighting back the stresses such as water loss, chilling temperatures and many other. This paper discusses the role of abscisic acid as a stress hormone.

Plant Responses to: The role of abscisic acid as a stress hormone

Introduction

Plants in general are greatly affected by the environmental conditions around. The performance and adaptability of any plant according to the environment is becoming of great importance to scientists. With the increasing change in the environment of the earth the world of modern agriculture is highly affected by the environmental factors like water, light, drought, etc. the study of response of genes of plants to biotic as well as abiotic factors to improve its sustainability power against harsh conditions of the environment is of extreme importance in the present era.

Farmers and other harvesters have faced great issues in their field relating to the risks of damaging of plants because of the environmental conditions. Need for protecting plants against the environmental factors was greatly felt. In the recent years significant researches have been conducted to control these risks that pose threats to crop's sustainability. These researches revealed that a hormone or acid called as abscisic acid (ABA) acts as a growth inhibitor and protects plants against the harsh factors of the environment.
