Introduction

Alberto Gonzalez (Alberto R. Gonzales) was born on August 4, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas. The grandson of Mexican immigrants, he was the second of eight children in a poor family of migrant workers, who lived in a two-room house. Gonzalez grew up in Houston, Texas, where in 1973 he graduated from high school named after Douglas MacArthur (Eggen, pp. 10).

Historical Aspect

From 1973 to 1975, Gonzalez did his military service in the U.S. Air Force, part of it was located at Fort Yukon in Alaska, then entered the Air Force Academy USA in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he studied from 1975 to 1977. Exact science is difficult to give Gonzalez also poor eyesight prevented him from becoming a pilot, so he transferred to Rice University, where he graduated in 1979 with a degree in political science. After that, he entered the Law School of Harvard University, where in 1982 he received the degree of Doctor of Law (Jeffrey, p 78).

From 1982 to 1995, Gonzales served in the influential Houston law firm of Vinson & Elkins, which eventually acquired the status of a partner. Among the clients of this company, he has been known by such scandals of corruption and links with the power companies like Enron and Halliburton.
