Introduction

The healthcare services departments in the local communities and societies are developed in order to assist the societies in becoming the healthy societies. The healthcare services departments and organizations, after attaining the success at one local location, tends to initiate the healthcare services at other locations depending upon the nature of the illness that are found in other locations. The development of healthcare services varies from one location to another. There are various reasons behind this factor. The major reason is that the climatic differences in different locations develop different types of diseases and illness among the people and among the residents of those locations. Due to the differences in the healthcare needs and requirements, the healthcare departments develop different healthcare services in order to meet the needs and requirements of the individuals. The healthcare needs among the people are also developed by other factors. Some of the important factors are that the trends of health and illness are also changing with that of the changing cultural and innovation trends. The healthcare needs among the people are also increased because the people in today’s societies more understand about the importance of prevention of diseases and illness. According to Somnath R. and Sharma, B. (1986), the people in communities play an important role in the successful implementation of healthcare services. The healthcare organizations have become more concerned in improving the health of the people in the societies.

Summary of the development of healthcare services in the community

Based on the research study it is analyzed that there is strong need to develop such healthcare services that can be affordable by the people in the local community. As the people belong to different cultures and languages, there is a strong need to initiate the healthcare service that includes the facility of language interpretations for common languages. In this local community, there are not such differences found in the illness and diseases as compared to other locations and communities. Therefore, it is greatly required that such adequate and quality healthcare services must be developed in the community that people can afford easily and that the healthcare providers can manage the costs easily.

A research study has been carried out in the local community in order to find out the most common diseases and illness that are existing among the people in that community. This research paper is based on the medical cost related to healthcare-associated infections that are constantly rising in the United States and reaching to its maximum and optimized level. The research paper defined that healthcare-associated infections are the infections that are caused when a patient acquires the pathogens while receiving the medical treatment or surgical treatment in the healthcare centers. This research paper scrutinized the cost of healthcare-associated infections and evaluated that the medical cost of healthcare-associated infections in constantly increasing. The intervention techniques that are used as preventive measures are also discussed in this paper. These intervention techniques and monitoring of the disease holds potential costs. This paper reported that almost one out of every twenty patients those are hospitalized has been diagnosed with the Healthcare-associated infections. Healthcare-associated infections have an economic effect on the healthcare system of a nation. This research paper addresses issues of morbidity and mortality. Healthcare-associated infections are the infections that are acquired by the patients during the period of acquiring treatment for other medical conditions. Healthcare-associated infections are dangerous and deadly. Healthcare-associated infections are the main cause of increased number of mortality rate in United States. It is included in the list of top ten diseases that causes death in United States. It is reported that almost one out of every twenty patients those are hospitalized has been diagnosed with the Healthcare-associated infections (Scott, 2009). The two important attributes of healthcare-associated infection (HAIs) are cost of hospital and length-of-stay (LOS). Healthcare-associated infections have an economic effect on the healthcare system of a nation. Healthcare-associated infections are widely researched by the medical researchers because it affects on around 1.7 million hospitalizations per year. Moreover, Healthcare-associated infections are directly related to the cost and length-of-stay of the patient in the hospital. In 1970, a study was conducted on the “Efficacy of Nosocomial Infection Control”, in which, the annual direct cost of healthcare-associated infections was included. The report concluded that out of 100 hospitalizations, the direct cost of healthcare-associated infections on annual basis per 4.5 patients was $4.5 billion in 1992. The countries with the best health care systems around the world are Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, and Japan. Every country strives to improve and enhance its healthcare system. Adequate health care system is the right of every citizen. In this research paper, we are going to discuss the health care system of Switzerland as model, and how can we implement that model in the United States. It is a popular debate these days that whether the United States should adopt the health care system model of Switzerland, or not (Drennen, 2010). Switzerland has one of the finest health and medical care system in the world. The healthcare system of Switzerland has influenced the health care system of various countries, and has inspired many countries to implement such health care system (Daley and Gubb, 2007).
