The basic concern of the American Nurses Association (ANA) is the efforts in the improvement of health in the society. The well-being of the people is the core objective of the ANA striving towards the promotion and protection of the nursing profession. It is the only organization representing the entire registered nurses population of the nation. Therefore, it is regarded as the strongest voice of the nursing profession. The headquarters of ANA resides in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Goals of the Organization

The main purpose of American Nurses Association (ANA) is the policy initiatives pertaining to health care reform. It is concerned with the improvement of health in society and exerts efforts for fulfilling the purpose. The affiliated organizations include the American Nurses Credentialing Center, the American Academy of Nursing and the American Nurses Foundation.

The mission of ANA is “to advance the quality of health care and the ethical practice of nursing in contemporary society through legislation, regulation, and policy advocacy” (De Castro, 2004). The organization is concerned with the health care issues and operates in the related field of interest.
