Introduction

Hypertension is one of the common issues that people are facing these days. Blood pressure is the pressure exerted by blood on the walls of arteries, as the heart pump. When the pressure of blood increases in the human body, it is known as hypertension. The blood pressure is measured using a sphygmomanometer, which can be used at hospitals as well as at home. The readings of blood pressure are measured and presented as two numbers, in this way 120/80 mmHg and 120/80 are the normal blood pressure. The upper number is known as systolic blood pressure, and the lower number is known as diastolic blood pressure (Kearney et al. 2005).

High blood pressure is usually measured as 140/90 as or more than this. There are several reasons that result in high blood pressure. These causes include smoking, stress, tension, overweight, genetics, kidney diseases, lack of physical activities and more. Age is also a reason of hypertension, as hypertension is common in people at the age of 40 and more. It is necessary that high blood pressure is controlled, or else it can result in different health problems. There are several ways of controlling Hypertension (Verdecchia et al. 2004).

In this research paper, different drugs are discussed which helps in controlling hypertension, which are known as Anti-Hypertensive drugs. These drugs are prescribed by physicians, which help in controlling blood pressure. Anti-Hypertensive agents help in reducing the blood pressure and bringing back the level of pressure to normal state. As high blood pressure can also result in damaging different organs of the human body, so it is necessary to take preventive measures to control blood pressure (Frethiem et al. 2012).

JNC VII Recommendations for Management of Hypertension

This report is presented by the National High blood Pressure Educational Program, which helps in understanding High Blood Pressure, and also presents that how it can be detected, evaluated and treated. The purpose of the report is to provide an evidence based approach related to hypertension and its treatment. The JNC VII gives suggestions related to hypertension patients that can help patients and physicians (Chobanian et al. 2003).

The JNC VII report recommends that every person who is facing hypertension should get proper treatment, and should use blood pressure controlling drugs. It also suggests that all the food industries and food sector should focus on reducing the amount of sodium in food products being produced. The physicians should make sure that they take all the relevant tests of the patients before suggesting them any drugs or treatment for hypertension. It is strongly recommended that hypertension is managed properly by the physician and the patient both. The report recommends that all the risk factors associated with hypertension should be known by people, and they should try to avoid it (Chobanian et al. 2003).

The JNC VII report also recommends a goal for blood pressure, which suggests that a standard blood pressure should be maintained. People should have a goal of maintaining 120/80 blood ...
