Antiviral Agents in Non-HIV Infection

Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Antiviral Agents in Non-HIV Infection” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on vaccines and vaccination and its relation with the individual health and society development. The research also analyzes many aspects of influenza virus and HPV and tries to gauge its effect on the host body. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for influenza and tries to describe the overall side effect and efficacy.

Antiviral Agents in Non-HIV Infection

Introduction

In 1976, Edward Jenner inoculates humans against small pox by the use of cow pox. From this instance, the term vaccine is generated from the Latin word vacca, cow. A vaccine is a biological preparation that combats against a particular disease and improves immunity. Typically a vaccine contains an agent that resembles a disease causing organism and it is made up of weakened or killed forms of the microbe, its surface protein or the toxin. Vaccine acts as an agent and stimulates in the human body's immune system, recognizes the disease stimulator as a foreign, destroys it, and remembers it so that if it later encounter, immune system can more easily recognize and destroy it (Lehne, 2010).

At instance, vaccines do not guarantee complete protection and does not respond effectively to the disease. This is because, the host immune system does not respond adequately to it. This happens because of the lower immunity or because the host body does not have the B cells capable of generating antibodies to that antigen (Lehne, 2010). However, there are many factors on which the efficacy or performance of the vaccine is dependent on. Vaccines are dead or inactivated organisms or purified products derived from them. There are several vaccines in use. There are different methodologies used to respond to a disease, and reduce its effect; while inducing the ability of a proficient immune system. In this research paper, the necessity of vaccination in minimizing the disease effect is discussed.

Discussion

Parent's Concerns

Although, vaccines are one of the most effective intervention for public health and safety used to respond the diseases and deaths. U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices prepares a schedule which is followed by the health care providers who vaccinate young children. Besides the benefits of the vaccination processes in the young children, most of the parents do not want their children to be vaccinated. Some parents say that the vaccine schedule is too crowded, and they are afraid that different vaccines at a comparable time may affect their child adversely (www.iom.edu, 2013).

Consequently, some parents are concerned about their child's medical history related to the premature birth or an underlying medical problem that the vaccination may make more vulnerable. There are some parents who do not trust the federal government decisions about the safety of their child because of their experience or some serious trauma which they have to suffer because of their decisions (www.iom.edu, ...
