Introduction

Certain responsibilities and jobs require specific and particular traits, which have to be developed using various means. These traits vary from one individual to the other and from one profession to the next, and thus the requirements and demands of professions specify the traits required for dealing with the particular issues and problems. As I am associated with the noble and auspicious occupation of preaching and dealing religious matters, my job description requires me to master the skills of conflict resolution and gain the ability of dealing with controversial situations with ease. The following paragraphs would shed light on the necessity and importance of learning conflict resolution for me and would also focus the link between my profession and conflict resolution:

I am working as the Nebraska Imam and Spiritual Leader in Islamic Center of Omaha, and my major responsibilities include leading prayers five times a day, resolving family disputes, teach Arabic language as well as recitation of Holy Quran and Fiqqah on every Saturday and to officiate the marriage contracts. In addition, I am responsible for representing the Muslim community at almost all of the government events and also have to give presentations at various universities and colleges regarding Islam. In order to fulfill these responsibilities, I come across a number of situations each day that might give rise to conflict, and thus I am required the skills if conflict resolution in order to perform my duties with utmost perfection. Ranging from family issues to the representation of communities and preaching of religion, I have to encounter a number of situations that are not plain and simple, and thus require specialized skills for resolution.
