Application of Chemistry to Daily Life

Introduction

This assignment discusses the importance, involvement and application of chemistry in the daily lives of humans, focusing on a particular example of its application; while also including a personal opinion about the topic in the end. It will also discuss how chemistry endangers our lives through its involvement and also the benefits that it creates for humans.

The Importance or Relevance of This Topic to Daily Life

Chemistry, with its enormous potential, creating previously unheard material, multiplies the soil's fertility, makes human labor, saves time, clothes, keeps up the health, creates a comfort, and its appearance changes people. The use of human achievements of modern technology and chemistry requires a high level of general culture, a great responsibility, and of course, knowledge (Atkins, 2003). The relevance of chemistry in our daily life goes beyond limits, and, it is interesting and useful for those who consider chemistry, an utterly dry subject, useless for a school subject, far from the daily life of ordinary people.

Our bodily processes are mostly chemicals. As we breathe, we digest, grow, age and even think; our bodies involve certain chemical reactors. The chemical processes of the factories are different in scale, but conceptually, since on them are processed, separate and recombine materials to make them new and useful forms. Chemistry has long found application in the food industry, agriculture is, of course, the main source of food, but it is possible that over time it might not be as effective. Already, people think about how to get more productive equivalent food from other sources and it is already possible to chemists and biologists (Moy et.al, 2010). Chemistry and entered into this industry, as production of construction materials, building products and designs. Thus, in modern construction are the use of different plastics additives in cement and concrete, new coatings, hydrophobic compounds, etc. This allows you to gradually replace traditional building materials are lighter, stronger and beautiful (Atkins, 2003).

Applications of Chemistry in Industry Food

Chemistry is one of the processes applied in most industries of food in recent times. Through chemistry, food suffers certain changes or modifications to its own preservation, improving the properties that constitute them (Francis, 2000). Currently the world's population consumes various amounts of chemicals found in food. This is because most foods are based on chemistry, contains a high level of addictive (sabonizantes and artificial colors) for the development of pepitos, pasta, sweets and others. An artificial color such as yellow No. 5, which causes an upset stomach, allergies and more, is itself, a product of chemistry. Food additives are not an invention of our high-tech age. Salt, baking soda, and spices are known to humans since time immemorial. However, the golden age began to use them all the same in the twentieth century - a century of food chemistry. In addition, with their help, it managed to create a wide range of mouth-watering delicacies, and less labor-intensive in production. This shows the numerous touches of chemistry ...
