Introduction

A person who influences a number of people in a form of group to achieve a task or goal is called as Leader. Therefore it can be said that leader is based upon people, person and purpose. As compare to other people they are more energetic, initiative, willing to take responsibility and ambitious. It is not necessary that leaders always take right decisions but they show confidence on the decisions which they take. According to Adair (2013), process of Leadership effects employees towards the attainment of objectives and goals of any organization. It is an old question that Are Effective Leaders Born or Made? And various debates have been made on this question but no final statement about this statement has made yet. Some research studies favor this statement while others are not. There are three levels of leadership and in order to understand this it is necessary to understand about the differences between these three levels. The three levels are tactic leadership, strategic leadership and operational leadership. The study reflects about the importance of research to an operational leader. Operational leaders build the systems and structures that permit the objectives and vision of strategic leaders to be attained.

The study is made to reflect a comprehensive debate on the statement that Are Effective Leaders Born or Made? Moreover, the study also reflects the writer's personal opinion about the statement. In addition to this study also highlights the importance of research to an operational leader. The core focus of this paper is to discuss and debate on a debatable question that either effective leaders are born or made. The following discussion will be focused on identifying the main ideas about the origin of effective leaders in the world.

Review of Literature

There is always a very strong and important impact of leaders on business and employees of any organization. According to the study made by Kets (2004), early researches have shown that the researchers believed that leaders born with their respective characteristics and features. Early research studies by Lussier & Achua (2010) concluded in their studies that leaders born with effective leadership characteristics and features. But on the other hand (Maxwell, 2007) the effectiveness of leaders depends upon their behaviors and these behaviors change with the situations and thus he concluded that the leaders are made not born. The statement reflects the difference between the traits and behaviors of leaders and early researchers believe that traits are more important than the behaviors of the leaders while the researches made in the modern era reflect that behaviors made the leaders more or less effective than traits (Prive, 2012).
