Aristotle and Relationship at work

Introduction

Society is a social web and its growth requires relation among its members that are effective and long lasting. Relationships are an important need of every individual. They are very delicate in every aspect of life, specifically at the work place where whatever actions are being taken are supposed to have a considerable impact on associations.

Relationship is not just a one way process. An effective relationship is one in which both the parties understand each other's position and emotions. As human being is considered a complex creature, good understanding skills are not enough. Good listening capabilities are also important. Thus to better collaborate, it is supposed that human beings should share what they want instead of expecting others to see or notice what we want from them.

Ethics is a subject that catches attention of the individuals in a bit different manner usually because of the fact that every person's perception is different and keeps on changing. A lot of work on the subject of ethics was carried out by ancient philosophers. Relationship at work specifically interpersonal relationships is one of the important subject area on which Aristotle's work has gained great implication.

Discussion

Civic Relationships

Civic relationships are an important issue in the present times because of the dynamic factors in the environment. The debatable issue is how different groups in the society or in other words at the workplace should relate and collaborate so as to ensure an environment where the common purpose for which an organization exists can be achieved in a meaningful manner.

Thus, in this manner one can reach the peaks of happiness and that will be the life considered to have a long term worth.(Retrieved from Truth Ignorance). In the tradition of western history, Aristotle's book on ethics is considered as one that completely defines the traits that help a person not just only to live but actually to animate well (Adler, 2009). In short, for Aristotle a happy man is one who has all the means to realize his potentials.

Virtue

Virtues are of two types, Moral virtues and intellectual virtues. For Aristotle, “moral virtues are states of character lying at the mean between extremes of excess and deficiency” (Payne). On the other side intellectual virtues are described as a form of insight that a person gain through teaching. Aristotle though of identifying moral virtues with three types of ...
