Introduction

In my report on artists from the twentieth century, I have chosen Van Gogh, and his post-impressionist painting “Starry Night on the Rhone”. I will be analyzing the subject of the painting, as well as the themes, characteristics, and influence of the in the context of this painting. I will also examine the social and political impressions found in the painting, and decipher the religious implications behind it, if any.
