Avicenna (Ibn Sina) (980-1037) was a very prominent scholar, philosopher and a physician. His real name was Abu Ali Husain Ibn Abdallah Ibn Sina. Avicenna was interested in medicine since a very young age, when he wasn't even 12 years old; he began studying it on the advice of the famous doctor and philosopher Abu Salah al-Masih.
