Introduction

In psychology, Bi-Polar Disorder is identified as the condition where an individual alternates among states of positive and negative moods as well as depression. These so called 'mood swings' exist between a point of mania and a point of depression where the transitions can be fast. It is diagnosed according to defiantly high energy levels, cognitions, and various moods incurring or not incurring depression. Bi-Polar disorder is affected by substance abuse, environmental factors, and genetic factors which determine the effectiveness of assessment activities, diagnostic, evaluating health care services provided, and applying psychiatry assistance needed for patients.

The paper consists of introduction, discussion and conclusion. Introduction explains the concept of bipolar disorder and its causes; discussion part evaluates the background of the disorder in medical terms and also explains the reasons behind my choice of majors and the significance of the study in terms of current trends and environment influence my decision.

Bi-Polar disorder is found in many people and is difficult to diagnose, therefore, its study is significant in order make awareness among people of its causes and symptoms and possible treatments.

Discussion

Bi-Polar disorder is found to be of cyclical nature which researches support could be caused by environmental factors as well as genetics. Hereditary pass on, issues in development, and initial traumas to the brain function can affect emotions which results in Bi-Polar disorder. On the other hand, the environment an individual is living in could hamper their mood swings. For example, some studies indicate that when a parent exhibits absenteeism, negligence, and dysfunction around his or her child it can create a higher probability of the child gaining Bi-Polar disorder.
