Over the years, Blackberry phone has established itself as a reliable name in the Smartphone market. Blackberry phones benefits from its brand name patronage around the world. The proprietary services offered through its proprietary server have stood apart from the rest of the Smartphone vendors. Blackberry phones got introduced in the market as a pager with two way messaging. Later it got launched as a PDA with email on mobile capability. With the advancement, in technology, the features on the handheld increased, and it was soon called as, Smartphone. Research In Motion's Blackberry phones was researched and developed in Canada: however, it soon became available all over the world, with the localized carriers in various regions. Blackberry phones got its name from the way its QWERTY key pad appears.

The keys looked like little black berries and hence it got the Blackberry phones. Blackberry phones gained enormous popularity for its multitasking, and efficient utility in the business segment, this resulted in consumers getting addicted to the device. Consumers often suffered due to sore thumb due to constant use of keys on the Blackberry phones: hence this ailment was termed as the “Blackberry phones Thumb”. Blackberry phones thumb in a way marked the days when Blackberry phone was glorified.
